Detroit is long known for being the automotive capital of the United States. Detroit’s best known  “Big Three” automobile manufacturers Ford, General Motors and Chrysler. But, Detroit also has a long and diverse cultural history, contributing to the live music scene with the formation of “Motown”.

Continually changing, Detroit is going through a renaissance of becoming a wireless city. Today, forward-thinking strategies coupled with the city’s history contributing to cultural change prepare Detroit to put a community technology program to work for its citizens.

In Detroit, the Knight Center has begun working with community partners to identify opportunities to facilitate increased broadband adoption and expand applications to benefit more citizens.
